Description
This is an artwork specifically created for a contest on Fine Art America. I have used a photograph submitted to FAA members by Abbie Shore and have altered it with a digital medium tool. The original perspective has changed as well as the coloring, which for me has improved the image and helped create more interest around it. The main change for me is the creation of a soothing image that helps draw one into it and invites one to explore further as to what the place has to offer. Because 2 images were allowed in this contest I used one of the images without the words and then with this added the words which for me were inspired by the image and its ambience. Being a Sunday morning here I felt the appropriateness of this message which is an important one for me always.

It reminds me of a statement by the 14th century German mystic, Meister Echkhart : "NOTHING IS MORE LIKE GOD THAN SILENCE." Experiencing the divinity that beats in our hearts in silence and meditation is truly the most precious gift that is freely available to anybody. No doing or believing is required. The only thing that is indispensable is silence. Tragically, very few of us, if any, will ever accept this infinitely precious gift because we have incarcerated ourselves in the prison of the intellect. I have often quoted the Austrian author Franz Kafka who said something like you don't have to go anywhere or do anything. Just make a habit of being silent, and the universal wisdom will reveal itself to you freely in ecstasy. It has to. It has no choice.

Thanks Bijan for your thoughtful comment! Your comment brings to mind for me Carl Jung and Eckhart Tolle......both wise men who have inspired others. We are so fortunate to have had access to their wisdom!

The stillness of nature inspires us to seek that stillness within ourselves. In silence, we can hear. l/f/tweet/pin
