I just watched Dr Who tonight on Australian catch up tv network (ABCIView) and this comment was said towards the end of the episode when the Dr was talking about the Earth's fate in the future in this program where it's been destroyed by lack of responsible care and management by its human inhabitants. (Series 12 - Episode 3: "Orphan 55")
So I dropped everything including watching this program to create this artwork in order to repeat this statement which I believe is an important one.
I'm so painfully aware of this aspect of humanity with living in Australia in January 2020 when the nation is having a catastrophic bush-fire situation as well as unprecedented high temperatures......all the direct result of global warming. Prolonged summers and increased temperatures is global warming even, though there are those among us who repeatedly want to deny this in order to continually justify the use of fossil fuel or who knows why really! How crazy do some folks have to be to do anything but admit the truth in order to start an improved process of government action on the subject of climate change?
M Scott Peck wrote a book called "People of the Lie" in which is described exactly this kind of human or lack of 'human' behavior where lies and untruths are fostered and promoted in order to maintain denial. And so human beings argue incessantly about this via media, twitter, Facebook, online news reporting, radio, television or anywhere else they can be heard. And so meanwhile I hear the Australian government wants to have a royal commission on this while there are others who are saying this isn't necessary and so on and so on.....arguing while this country burns!
My recent statement on social media is about less words and more action and with this artwork I wish to highlight that statement for all to see and understand. We've had decades to discuss, debate and argue about this. It's time to act and surely this is the lesson of this catastrophe here in Australia where millions of hectares of land have been burnt, wildlife is in danger of becoming extinct, hundreds of homes have been lost, smoke is continually enveloping cities and lives are at risk and lost as a result.
Governments must act on this situation constructively rather than debate endlessly until exhaustion results with the brushing under the carpet effect and all good intentions are lost due to resulting apathy born of exhaustive arguing or through other distractions.
It really does pain me and many other Australians as we watch and listen on our media these debates .......we are so tired of the rhetoric.....lets just do what has to be done for the good of our planet, our lives and future generations as well as our country!
I created this artwork using a previous artwork of mine already in my portfolio that I also created and inspired by a heatwave condition in Sydney Australia.

VERY well said in your description Leanne! The very same thing is happening in the US right now. The whole western United States is on fire, hurricanes are devastating the eastern seaboard, 200,000 people have died from Covid-19, there is rioting over racial inequality, and the president is playing golf, spouting that this is all a hoax and the virus will magically disappear! Thank you for your exposé on this subject!

Oh Lorraine....it's all so tragic and overwhelming and your comment fills me with a sense of foreboding given that we here in Australia are approaching another summer.....and only God knows what that will bring! Meanwhile I feel my inner heart crying for the earth and it's inhabitants and pray that divine guidance and mercy will be delivered where needed for all. Stay strong and don't give up and know that God allows everything for a good reason. Meanwhile lessons need to be learned quickly!
