Description
This is from an oil crayon drawing of mine that I did at a time when I was feeling very vulnerable ( ie naked re protective clothing or armour) and somewhat sad after being disappointed by relationships. This was an expression of that sadness but also an expression of my wish to protect myself and especially my heart, as in emotional self. The colours and lines around this figure represent the energies in life influencing but also protecting me and my heart at the same time. The three white birds flying to the right of the figure represent the freedom of spirit and change as 3 is the Jungian number of transformation. I felt at this time and looking back that this period of my life was about change and transformation and my lessons in needing to take care of myself. This artwork was done in the 1990s so I've thankfully come a long way since then thank God!
Here, the original work that this is based on was altered with digital effects to give the impression of this work being painted on a wall. I like the way this brings out lines and colour as well as dramatic effect and seems to tell more of a story......a bit like graffiti on a wall!
