Description

This is a pencil sketch of a large bolder and its surrounds, as seen from my adult daughter's back yard in Beacon Hill, Sydney Australia. The bolder is being shaded by a tree fern and is also surrounded by lots of lower growing natural bushland fern as well as other native trees, grasses, rocks etc. My daughter's home is built onto a hill that adjoins to a natural bushland park/reserve in the Northern Beaches area of Sydney.

As I did this drawing of this area at one stage, I experienced a most amazing feeling of connection to an ancient timeless land, beyond the norm, that this rock was part of! It felt like some kind of dejavu or almost magical experience, and as I continued my drawing, the energy from this land seemed to fill me in such an amazing way, so much so that I didn't want to stop! I felt like I was being transported by some kind of invisible time machine to when the land was first born long, long ago. Such was the numinousness of feeling from this experience that I could understand what the Australian aboriginals meant by the 'dream time'......as my feelings being experienced felt very much to me like some mysterious part of some kind of huge and ancient mystical dreaming or dream-time connected to the land. Love it when that happens, which is very rare!

Some time after I did this drawing I took a photo of this area, but a closer capture of the actual boulder or large rock that was under this tree as well as of the ferns etc. This image is in my gallery called 'FERN TREE ROCK SHADOW'.

Hope you enjoy this artwork with its contents that I see as nature's gifts, that continually inspire me and bring me joy in the nicest possible ways. This is why I've titled this Nature's Gifts.
