Description
This original work was done in oils but has over time changed with my adding other mediums for highlighting and effects, This semi abstract painting is done in honour of my own life's personal journey. It signifies the hope, faith and love that has sustained me though many a trials and tribulations that life has presented me with especially when attempting to raise 4 children as a single parent after a dramatic marriage breakdown and the affects of this on all of us.
The positive attributes expressed in this artwork I'm humbly grateful for, because there but the grace of God, there would have been no light at the end of this proverbial tunnel that represents life's path for me or my life's journey in this image. The birds in flight symbolically represent my four children, all free spirits and the balls of light symbolically represent angelic beings who I believe were/are always watching over us, me and my family, guarding and protecting as much as possible and divinely ordained. The purple feminine figure is representative only of my spiritual self or soul self, with the color purple signifying the dignity and integrity needed in order to stay on track. The white shimmering light around the figure symbolically represents the light of the Holy Spirit that has always been with me, as a gift of grace and promise of eternal life through the Source, represented by the light at end of the tunnel or center of this image. This Source can be interpreted by any name attributed to God or by all universal names that all fit the one True Master and Creator of the universe.
This is not a religious painting, but rather a spiritual one to honour my own spiritual journey in life and what that may means. This painting was started in 1987 and completed in 2002. May it serve as an inspiration for others who also seek the eternal Light of the Divine.
