This is a photo of a magnificent fig tree growing in the Royal Botanical Gardens in Sydney Australia. I love this angle of the view of this tree as it embraces the earth with its powerful root system. To take this angled view one has to walk down a bit of steep incline behind the tree, but it was well worth the effort I feel.
On the other side of this tree is the public footpath and the normal viewing position I've taken many photos of this tree from different angles, as well as having done drawings, some of which are on my online portfolio.
I've always loved trees from childhood and drawn or painted them repeatedly. I also love the poem 'Trees' (copied below) by Joyce Kilmer which is a wonderful expression of how I feel about these wondrous gifts of creation, as well as inspired the title of this image.
I think that I shall never see
A poem lovely as a tree.
A tree whose hungry mouth is prest
Against the earth�s sweet flowing breast;<...
