Description
A watercolour painting I did from a corner of the park opposite my place which is part of a block of units in Sydney Australia. I chose to draw this tree which had lost all its leaves because I liked the lines, shapes and dark texture to it. The tree is done mainly in black felt tip pen and the rest of the art work is mainly done in watercolour paint. I titled this The Gift of Winter because of how I felt about being able to do this artwork in the middle of winter when things were otherwise pretty cold and gloomy. I enjoyed the process of doing this work especially since I had no idea how to get the effects on the tree right. It was only through trial and error and almost by accident that the tree worked out as well as it did - and I was thrilled and surprised at the result.......so felt this was a gift to me, ergo the title!
Through using a digital medium I have very slightly tweeked the colors on the photograph of this image given that the photograph did not do the original artwork justice.

Your tree is very majestic, Leanne, and the golden colors of the street scene behind compliment it perfectly!
