A photograph I took of a bush cave on Dangar Island, which is a small island in the middle of the Hawksbury River and part of a national park in NSW Australia. The cave was part of many natural wonders of nature that I enjoyed, as I strolled around the island on its one and only road, which makes its way around the island,

Walking along this road allow those fit enough to do this, spectacular views of the Hawksbury River, fishing boats, as well distant mainland and other views, as the road makes it's way up and around the top of the island.

I love caves and have always found them mysterious and full of story, since I can well imagine the refuge these secret places have given to animals and native aboriginals over recent and past long forgotten times. The rocks in this area are quite often made of sandstone since this place is not far from the ocean with the river leading to the Tasman Sea eventually.

The natural sunlit area outside of the cave only adds to the drama and sense of potential story to this image as well as creating a dynamic effect through shadow and light. The thousands upon thousand of years that it has taken to form this cave is another source of fascination for me which naturally fires up my imagination.

I've added a little digital tweeking to bring out the natural colours of this area, as well as to add interest and colour especially within the cave area, actually helping one to see more of the caves interior.
