Description
This is originally a watercolour painting of mine drawn and painted purely from my imagination of somewhere I felt I would love to be or live. I love the Australian outback and the sense of freedom that one can experience there.
As a child I used to love exploring the country side of the Australian bush and landscape and that love has stayed with me even now into my old age.
The Australian eucalyptus gum trees stand tall and proud in its natural habitat, providing shelter and shade for all. It has a beauty and grace all of it's own and never ceases to amaze me how it can withstand the ferocious bush fires that sometime ravage the land and all things in its way. And yet these trees grow back against all odds and even rely on the fires to aid in their regeneration.
Here in this painting the landscape is pretty bare because it's a cattle station and the shed you see to the left of the painting is part of the cattle sheds belonging to this property. In the distance towards the horizon on the right hand side of the fence is a flock of sheep.
There's a vastness and sense of space that I love in this artwork where earth and sky meet in its celebration of all life and what that means in this country Australia that I live in.
I've tweeked the colour slightly in this artwork with a digital medium so as to deepen the colour since the digital photograph of it lost some of it's natural colour depth.
